Todays blog is going to be about negative numbers. Negative numbers are numbers on the left side of a number line. Some people say that they are real negative numbers on the number line. In other words some say that you own -5 dollars to that person instead of owing 5 dollars. This is wrong because you don't owe -5 dollars there is not a -5 dollar bill in the world. People don't say this because it sounds weird. Negative number are mainly used in math. For example the most common way of using them is for a math problem. For example, -5+2. The negative always stays negative. To solve this problem you would need to use a number line with negative and positive numbers.

I hope that you understand the difference with using negative numbers on a number line and how to say it. This can be tricky, but it will work out in the end. Just remember you don't owe -5 dollars, you just owe 5. It is better to know what how much you owe someone. I remember learning this in fifth grade. I really like this lesson, because it is very easy to understand. This topic is like the topic integers. It is basically the same thing. I also hope that you know what intergers are!    Until next Math Mondays blog!
