Todays blog will be about the Civl War re-enactment. This week I went to a very fun place, where people re-enacted the Civil War. It was cool, because they had a little show on how the Civil War started. There were real riffels and cannons there. It was very noisy when they shot the riffels, even more when they shot the cannons. It is a very fun thing to go to, and it teaches you about the Civil War and how they lived back then when they were in the war. There were even people dressed as famous people in the war, such as Abraham Lincoln. The person who played Abraham Lincoln, was a really good actor. He even looked like him! I had a great time going to the Civil War re-eactment. It was just like living and being in the Civil War. I would really reccomend this for anybody who just loves history and the Civil War. I learned a little bit more about the Civil War, and how it came about.
The Civil War is really a big thing in the United States. Many people do not this. With out this war, the United States would probably be different than right now how it is like. It is really fun to make a connection and learn about the past. It has been 150 years since this war changed peoples lives. It is a very big thing in the USA. Pismo beach is a very popular beach. When you wade in the water, you can see little shells under the sand. In Pismo beach, it is very crowded. It is worth it thought, because the sceanery is beautiful. It is very peaceful. It is also a good place to have a picnic, while the sun goes down. The last time I went was a couple of months ago. It was kind of cold, but it was worth it. My sisters and had a sandcastle contest.My little sister's castle was tiny and with out much detail. Valerie's castle was bigger but was knocked down by a wave. Mine was the biggest and had three flags and a tower. I won because everyone liked my castle best. We had lots of fun building the castles! It was very sandy! Then I went inside the water, it was freezing. After a while, I got used to the water. There was a lot of people in the water. My sisters would always run away from the huge waves. We all had a blast.
In this type of weather right now, it is not the brightest idea to go. It is way too cold, but hey maybe there would be less people there. To Pismo beach it is about a good three hours. It is a very long drive. My favorite activity to do at Pismo is to collect shells. I think they are pretty. My sisters and I have a contest to see who could find the most shells, and when we are done, we put all the shells back so other people could enjoy them. After all, Pismo beach is one of my favorite beaches. I don't really mind how cold it is, because I know that it will be worth it.
A book that I'm currently reading right now is called I was a Non-Blonde Cheerleader It is a book about a girl who is new at a school, were a majority of girls hair colors are blonde. She is used to moving schools all of the time, so this wasn't a big deal for her.She really liked cheer-leading A boy told her that the school all ready had cheer-leading tryouts. The next day, on
the morning announcements the principal had mentioned that there would be two open spots for the cheer-leading team. She got so excited that she was going to try out. In her mind she wondered which two cheerleaders gave up their spot on
the team,but then again she didn't care. Now the rest of her year in school, may go swell.
I like this book because,it is like a realistic fiction book. Every time I read a chapter, I feel like I'm in the book. Its filled with realistic items,that we can do,such as : there is a high-school, a cheer-leading squad, and many other things that are real. Right now I am on chapter four,I haven't read that much,but I cant wait to see whats in chapter five!
The latest book that I'm reading is called "Please, Please,Please". The shape of this book is odd. It is like the half of a normal sized book. Its quite small, but its a long book. So far, this book is about a seventh grader who has
to chose between dancing or her friends. Her mother wants her to dance, because she never got to dance at an auditorium and wants her daughter to have the choice to dance in the special autotrium. This book is also about how the main character CJ, has trouble keeping her friends, because her mother doesn't really like her friends. This small book has 32,602 words in it. That is a quite alot words for a small book to have. It also has 23 chapters. It is a great book
so far, and I can't wait to read the rest of it. The author, Rachel Vail, has some other good books, like "Wonder" and "Daring to be Abigail'. I would reccomend this book for middle school students.
I've have barely started reading this book, because I just finished another good book called "Mockingbird". "Mockingbird" is about a girl that is sad, because her brother has past away. The girl and her father are trying so badly so find clousure to help them feel better. I really reccomend these two books, because they are heart-warming and just plain
great.
French class is pretty easy if you know how to speak Spanish. Some of the words have the same root words, as Spanish does. For example: "lundi' and "lunes" both mean Monday. Words in french sound like English words as well,and some are spelled the same way. Like orange is spelled the same way in french as it is in English I learned numbers and letters in french,and if your wondering it was pretty easy. We also learned basic colors,greetings,and weekdays. We had to sing two french songs that was pretty easy to learn. We are also starting Rosetta Stone.That is a program that teaches you all kinds of languages.The military and the government use is it as well. It is supposed to be good to teach you a language fast. All you really need to use it is Rosetta Stone,and ear buds with a microphone.
Anyways, my french class is lots of fun,and is really easy.My french teacher,Madame Hutchinson,is really nice as well. Maybe some day I will go to France and be able to communicate with the french people.
San Francisco is a city with many places to visit. One of the most famous place in San Francisco is Alcatraz. Alcatraz used to be a jail. It is on an island, so the prisoners couldn't escape. Alcatraz is visited by a whole lot people. There is another great place that people lie to visit, it is the Golden Gate bridge. The Golden Gate bridge is very popular. It is visited by millions of people. The Golden Gate bridge runs across a lake. The last time I went to San Francisco was in May. I got to see many places, such as: The Golden Gate bridge, Alcatraz, China town,etc. It was really cold, because of the bay in San Francisco. The city is filled with many interesting things.
I like San Francisco, because it is cold, and it is hot were I live. I also like China town. It is small, but has a lot of cool things.
Do you care about the presidential election? I care. I care because it can
effect students and their education.Students already have to pay alot to go to school, but now, if Obama wins students might have to pay even less. Obama and Romney are head to head in this election. I think it isn't time for a change.
This is based on my personal opinion and the conversations that I have heard within my own family members debating on this matter.
Irregardless of who wins the presidential election its going to have a great impact on the economy. As of right now, there are alot of Americans who struggle to make ends meet. Theres alot of jobs that are needed in this country in order of this economy to be prosper. Both candidates make promises to the american people,and at times, it is confusing to belive in either one. I may not understand our current political system or the economy, but I see everyday struggles with people I come in contact with. Not enough jobs to go around in this great country of ours.
In conclusion, whether Obama or Romney win the presidential election. There has to be a positive change
in this country.
Drafting is one of my classes here at Computech. It is sometimes pretty easy and hard. We use some special tools for drafting, such as a T-square, a scale, different kids of pencils, etc. The T square is the boss, you always have to place it the right way, or your drawing wouldn't be right. The T square is called a T square, because when you hold it vertically it looks like the letter T. We also use different types of pencils, they are the 2H, 4H, H, and F. The scale that we use has lots of varieties from which to measure from. We sometimes use Google Sketchup. Google Sketchup is a nice tool, because you can draw on the computer, just like you draw on the paper. We have to complete two drawings on paper before we can start Google Sketchup.
Drafting is just like drawing, but better. I really like to draw, so I thought drafting would have been nice to try out. If you ever come to an opportunity to try drafting, I think you should. I would reccomend this for anyone who loves to draw. If you ever try drafting, remember the T-square is the boss!
If you don't know this yet, but Edison Computech wears uniforms. We wear uniforms to identify the students that go to Computech. On the last Friday of every month, who ever has a "C" or better will have the opportunity to wear jeans! This is the last Friday of this month, so people who have good grades will get to wear jeans. This is how it works: the students will check their grades the day before, or the school will put up a list of who ever gets to wear jeans. Then the next day they would get to wear jeans. I really like this idea because we can wear jeans, and not uniform pants, shorts, or skirts. If you go to a school that wears uniforms I would recommend you tell you principal to make these changes. I also like this idea, because it encourages students to maintain their grades to be well. Also, it is like a little reward for the students who are doing well in school for the past month.
I hope you can find use for my school's idea. Like I said this is a great idea to help us keep our grades up and well. So, even if you don't have this at your school you should really still keep your grades up. Like I had said before I really would recommend this for schools who have to wear uniforms.
Power searching with Google, is a class that you can take to make you a better internet searcher on Google. It has six lessons in total. There are three test that you have to take, one at the begining, in the middle, and one at the end of the class. This is how it works, you first watch a video then do an activity. It teaches you a whole lot of cool things, like how to filter pictures by color, simularities, and by size, how to convert degrees into inches, yards, feet, celcius, farinheight, etc.. It also teaches you how to reasearch something to get the very best result. I recommend that you should go register on to Google search to teach you new things about sufing the web. I think it is a very helpfull class. I've learned a lot of cool things, and if you do register I think you will too. I also learned a few tricks by just watching the video and taking the activity. The whole class takes about three weeks to finish, but it will go by fast because you will be anxious to learn more about this.
Like I said before, I really recommend that you take this course, it will be very fun and you will know how to be a better internet searcher that you were before. It may seem like alot of work to do, but its worth it because you learn something new everyday. So, what are you wating for go out there and learn something new!
